So, I took off my front door handle to repaint the door and ended up with this tiny black spring that fell out. I'm pretty sure it came from the bigger part of the handle, but now I can't figure out where it's supposed to go. Can anyone assist me? That little black spring is actually a return spring for the thumb pad. However, it looks like one end might have broken off, so you might need a new door handle after all.
Yeah, that sounds right! If the spring is damaged, replacing the entire handle might be the easiest solution. At least you'll have a fully functional door again!
