I recently started a small DIY project to replace a leaky faucet in the guest bathroom, thinking it would be a quick fix that would take no more than an hour. However, once I got under the sink, I discovered corroded shutoff valves, a warped cabinet floor, and a questionable drain pipe. Now, I'm essentially redoing the whole vanity. I'm not very experienced with DIY projects, but it seems like every time I try to tackle a simple fix, I end up uncovering multiple issues. Is this a common experience for others, or am I not planning properly?

Oh man, small DIY projects are basically guaranteed to turn into full-on weekend jobs. It’s like the best case scenario if you only need a couple of hours! If you’re not trekking to the hardware store three times in one day, are you really DIYing?

Right? Every time I thought it’d be a quick job, I'd end up knee-deep in more work. Last time, I thought I'd just swap a thermostat, but next thing you know, I'm rewiring the wall! It’s a slippery slope!
