I'm interested in getting a good M18 circular saw, but I've noticed there are several different models available. I'm primarily using it for cutting backing in new construction, mainly 2x4 and 2x6 lumber. Although my sawzall works fine for straight cuts, it takes a toll on the tool since it's one of my go-to tools. I'm looking for something that can make these cuts quicker and with less wear on my sawzall. Any recommendations based on your experiences?

If you don't need to make any 45-degree cuts, I'd recommend going for the 6.5" model. For general cuts on 2x4s and 2x6s, a 7.25" saw should work just as well, so it really comes down to your preference on whether you want the blade on the left or right side of the saw. I've used both sizes, and for what you're doing, either will be fine!

I rarely need to make bevel cuts too, so the 6.5" seems like a good fit for me. I also prefer a lighter model, especially since I want to minimize fatigue when I’m cutting wood!
