How Can I Dog-Proof My Wooden Fence?

I've had my two dogs for a few months now, and I've realized that when they get excited about squirrels or birds, they can actually push down the wooden fence boards. The boards are nailed from the other side, so my dogs can easily dislodge them. I'm looking for advice on how to reinforce the fence from my side to prevent them from escaping. I'm thinking about using mesh wire fencing or adding more wooden panels and securing them. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It sounds like your fence might need some upgrades! If your dogs can push down the boards that easily, the wood might be rotting. You should consider replacing it with sturdier planks. Also, using screws instead of nails can provide better security. Adding some horizontal beams on the other side might help too, so when they push the vertical boards, they'll also have to push against those beams, making it a lot tougher for them to escape. Good luck!

I definitely agree with using screws to fasten the boards instead of nails. If you can attach a couple of horizontal beams from the other side, that will create additional stability. Remember, if your dogs can handle that, they're probably stronger than average! Just make sure everything is tightly secured and should hold up well against their excitement.
