Why Is My DeWalt Electric String Trimmer Stopping Randomly?

I've got a DeWalt 20V electric string trimmer that's around two years old but doesn't see much use. I originally bought it with a package of DeWalt string, and I've barely gone through it. Today, though, the trimmer started acting up; it would run for 30 seconds to a minute before shutting off completely. I figured it might be the battery and replaced it several times with fully charged ones, even trying a 60 FlexVolt 9ah battery, but it still runs intermittently. Any ideas on how I can fix this issue?

It could also be a faulty switch. Sometimes these triggers can wear out or not make solid contact. Just a thought!

I had a similar issue with a string trimmer (not a DeWalt, though). The root cause was actually related to the adjustable pole that connects the handle to the motor unit. I found that it had a loose connection, and the problem was fixed by adjusting the height and tightening the lock. If your model has an adjustable length or folds up, try checking those joints for a secure connection!

I had a similar experience when mine was brand new. It stopped working right out of the box! I ended up getting it replaced, but I haven’t really put the new one to the test yet.
