I'm a new homeowner with little experience in yard maintenance, and I'm looking to buy a string trimmer to help with my yard. I've been overwhelmed with lots of advice and recommendations from others and my own research. My question is simple: does a battery-powered string trimmer have less power compared to a corded electric trimmer? I want to avoid gas-powered options due to some physical issues and need something simple to use. Thanks in advance for your help!

I suggest going with a rechargeable battery trimmer instead of corded. They’re easier to handle for your needs and perfect for maintaining a yard. Brands like Stihl and Echo are a bit pricier, but they’re durable and well-suited for regular use. Congrats on the new house, and best of luck with the yard!
The power difference between battery and corded trimmers can depend on your yard size. Corded models are generally lighter but managing the cord can be tricky. If you have a small yard and a good power source, a corded trimmer could work. Otherwise, I prefer the freedom of batteries over cords. Just keep in mind, you might need to learn to handle the cord if you choose that option!
I'm not sure which option has more power, but my Makita battery trimmer works great even on my half-acre yard. If you go with a corded model, just be careful not to accidentally cut the cord. Remember, when choosing a battery trimmer, think about the whole battery ecosystem—you’ll want to ensure you can use the same batteries across your tools. I went with Makita since I already had some of their batteries.

Totally agree! I've been using Greenworks battery-powered tools for years, and they’ve held up incredibly well—for over 10 years now, and I still use the same batteries!
