Is My Solar Battery’s First Cell Damaged?

I started building my first solar system back in May, which includes a 150Ah 24V Lifepo4 battery, a Powmr AIO inverter (1500W), and a 400W PV with a load of around 250 Watts. I initially charged the battery for days without a load, but the voltage was capped at 26.4V. After checking the individual cell voltages, I found that only the first cell (2.65V) is significantly lower than the others (which are above 3.2V). I thought it might not be a big deal, but now, as of July, the system has shut down a few times, and I had to revive the battery using a 24V e-bike charger. So, is it possible that the first cell is damaged? Am I missing something important here?

It sounds like that first cell might indeed be the problem. It’s possible it was sold to you for that reason. If you can access the cells individually, consider using a DC bench power supply to charge that specific cell separately and monitor if it holds its voltage overnight. If it does, it might still be usable. If not, you might need to look into replacing that cell or even using a different cell altogether outside the case.

Can I replace that cell with one from a different brand as long as it’s still 150Ah?
