Should I Keep This Tree or Is It Just Taking Up Space?

Hey everyone! I'm a relatively new homeowner trying to figure things out when it comes to landscaping. I've got this tree in my yard (check out the image here: https://imgur.com/a/nH9mzp9) and honestly, I'm not sure if it serves any purpose beyond looking decent. I'm not a fan of how it looks—it's pretty short and small, so it doesn't provide much shade, and it actually blocks my view from the main window. I'm considering getting rid of it, but I'm curious if there are any hidden advantages I'm not aware of that might justify keeping it. Any thoughts?

You might want to be careful with removing it, though! Trees close to houses can sometimes cause issues with drainage and foundations. The previous owners might have planted it to hide something unsightly, like a hose bib. Just consider the potential effects before making a decision!

It's tough to tell from the picture, but it looks more like a tall shrub than a tree. Sometimes, these kinds of plants can become unmanageable over time and might not fit the spot they were planted in. If it’s just cluttering your view and not enhancing your yard, you might want to think about replacing it with something that fits better!

From what you describe, it sounds like that tree doesn't have much value aside from looks. You're right to question its purpose since it seems to block your view without offering shade or significant benefits. It's not a structural tree, so I wouldn’t worry about it providing support or anything important. If it’s not what you want, maybe it's time to consider removing it?

Haha, I feel you! Trees should bring joy, not just sit there looking awkward!
