How do I fix grout issues in my shower corners?

Hey everyone! I've got a fully tiled shower, including the floor, and I've noticed mold growing where the walls meet the floor. There are also a few cracks at these joints. I've heard it's a good idea to clean and remove the old grout, but I'm unsure about what to use next. Should I be re-grouting in these seams, or is it better to use high-quality caulk? What do you all suggest?

You should definitely go with caulk instead of grout for those seams. They have sanded caulk, but a high-quality 100% silicone is really your best bet since it flexes and won’t crack like grout.

Sounds good, thanks!

Make sure to cut out all the grout where the two surfaces meet and clean out any mold or mildew. Let it dry for a day or two, then use that 100% silicone caulk to seal the corners up nicely.

The key reason for using caulk instead of grout in those joints is that there will always be some movement between the two surfaces, which leads to cracking if you use grout. After you remove the old grout, I recommend spraying bleach into the opening and letting it sit overnight to kill any mold before applying the silicone.

Great, appreciate it!
