How to Keep Rats Out of My Garden?

Asked By GardenNinja42 On

I'm really struggling with rats in my garden! They've been munching away on my radishes and just last night, they demolished a whole mint plant and some coriander. I can't put up a fence since I'm renting, so I'm looking for alternative ways to keep them out. I heard that lavender might help deter them, but considering that the rats have made a nest right under a lavender bush, I'm not so sure that's effective! Any advice on plants or methods I could use?

Haha, I can relate! I was shocked when I found out that the local pheasants were the ones eating my broccoli. Who knew rats have a taste for coriander, too? Mind blown! ?

You could try urinating around the perimeter of your garden! I heard it works for keeping foxes away, so maybe it'll deter rats as well. It's a bit unusual, but worth a shot!

If you know where the rats are nesting, it might be a good idea to tell your landlord. They might be able to call pest control to handle the issue. I know it can be complicated if there are disputes about land ownership, but getting a pro involved could be worth it!

Yeah, it's such a mess right now with the land situation. Plus, I live near a river, so there are always rodents about. Not sure how quick a solution will be!
