My Dishwasher Suddenly Stopped Working—What Could Be Wrong?

Hey everyone! My dishwasher just quit on me right in the middle of a cycle, and it wouldn't drain afterward. I tried to turn it back on, but nothing happened. I checked the circuit breaker and found no tripped switches, but I did notice that the outlet in the bathroom behind the dishwasher isn't working either. Everything else in the kitchen and bathroom seems fine. Any ideas on what might be going on?

Is the outlet behind your dishwasher a GFCI outlet? Those can trip easily; you might want to try resetting it. If it’s just a regular outlet, then it could be something else, but keep an eye on that connection!

No, it’s just a regular plug outlet. I’m wondering if that nut I saw could be causing the issue too?

I had a similar issue with my KitchenAid dishwasher, and it turned out to be a tiny leak at the bottom near the drain. I had to tighten a few parts because there’s an electric switch that shuts it off if it senses water to prevent leaks. Maybe check that area?

That's interesting! I did notice a nut from a screw when I opened it up. How did you fix yours?

Some dishwasher models are really picky and won't work with GFCI outlets at all. Be sure to check the manual for your model to see if that's the case.
