I've noticed some dark spots under my wife's car in the garage, and I'm starting to wonder if it's an oil leak. Should I just take it to a mechanic, or is this something I might be able to handle myself?

If you're pretty sure it's oil, a cool trick is to get some UV dye for motor oil. Just add it to your engine, then use a black light to look for leaks. It'll make it much easier to figure out where it's coming from!
Exactly, knowing where it's leaking from is great, but fixing it can be a whole different story!
Before jumping to conclusions, have a quick look underneath and see if you can spot anything! Sometimes what looks like an oil leak could just be condensation from the AC. But if it really is oil, then you might want to take a deeper dive!
Honestly, if you're unsure, just take it to a shop. Asking about it means you might not feel comfortable fixing it yourself, and that's totally fine. Professionals will be able to diagnose it properly, and they'll let you know if it's something serious or just a minor fix.

Good call, but just be prepared—if you find the leak, you might end up needing a pro anyway!
