I'm new to growing shishito peppers and I'm coming from a background of raising red peppers. I want to know when the best time to pick the shishito peppers is and what are some good recipes or ways to cook them?

You should pick the peppers when they're about 3-4 inches long. They taste great when green and I usually like to eat them like a snack: just blister them in a hot pan with oil and salt, and they're like little poppable treats!

A great way to enjoy shishito peppers is to heat some olive oil in a pan and toss the peppers in until they're slightly tender. Sprinkle a little salt on them, and you're good to go! By the way, about 1 in 10 of them can surprise you with some heat!

Totally agree! You can also blister them in a pan, add a squeeze of lemon juice afterward for a zesty kick. It's one of my favorite ways to prepare them!

If you're gonna grill or roast them, just a heads up: poke a few holes in the peppers first, or they'll burst and make a mess! They can turn red if left on the plant too long and still taste good, but I prefer picking them while they're green for the best flavor.

Exactly! I love them green too; they have such a nice flavor that way!
