I recently picked up a Luban low angle jack plane, but I'm having trouble with the norris adjuster. It seems to be sticking against the plane body in a couple of spots, making it difficult to advance the blade in certain areas. Should I try sanding down the bottom of the adjuster, the areas on the plane where it's tight, or is there a better approach?

It’s usually a lot easier to sand the adjuster rather than trying to adjust the plane body. Milled surfaces can be tricky, and you really don’t want to mess those up. Just make sure you double-check if anything else is causing the binding first—like the iron rubbing against the bed or issues with the lever cap. Remember, on low angle jacks, the lever cap doesn’t need to be super tight; just snug enough to hold everything in place.

I checked, and even without the iron, the adjuster still sticks when I turn it, plus the threads are fine when it’s completely removed.
