Hey everyone, I recently inherited a Barcelona-style chair from my mom, but it has a silver frame while my living room accents are gold. I'm curious if anyone has tried using Rub n Buff on metal furniture and how it held up. I've heard good things about it and it's supposed to be easy to work with, but I'm a bit worried about its durability, especially since I have a toddler who might touch the frame. I want to avoid ruining such a nice piece. Any experiences or tips would be greatly appreciated!

There's quite a bit of chrome on these chairs, so it might be a big undertaking to get it right with Rub n Buff. I tried painting a Barcelona chair before, and it didn’t turn out like we hoped. Looking back, I wish we’d used metallic contact paper instead—it would have been a lot easier to manage and would’ve held up nicely since the chair doesn’t get touched all that much.
I’m not sold on Rub n Buff for this kind of project. Instead, I'd recommend either disassembling the chair and spraying the metal or embracing a mixed metal look in your decor. That way, you won’t risk messing up the original finish, and it could create a nice contrast with your gold accents. It’s definitely worth pondering before committing to anything permanent!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll think about mixed metals. I'm also considering spray paint but it feels risky if it gets scratched up!

I appreciate your insight! Metallic contact paper does sound like a less risky option.
