I'm in Arizona and finding it tough to landscape my backyard. Traditional grass is pricey and not very eco-friendly. I've considered fake grass, but it tends to get really hot and doesn't seem great for the environment either. Gravel isn't my favorite option, and while sand could work, I'm worried about it getting everywhere, especially since my kids play outside. Are there any other ideas or options I might have overlooked?

Have you looked into xeriscaping? It's perfect for desert environments and focuses on using drought-tolerant plants. I suggest checking out the resources on sites like the Wildflower Center. You might discover some neat landscaping styles that work well in your area!
How about adding a shallow wading pool? It could be a fun feature for your kids to enjoy, especially in such a hot climate! Just keep in mind that landscaping in Arizona can be a bit tricky, but there are options out there.
You could consider setting up a big sandbox and letting the kids play with remote control cars or tonka trucks in there. It keeps the sand contained and is great for creative outdoor play!

Thanks! I’ll definitely check those out.
