I'm looking for advice on which green manure would be ideal to plant without much effort. Ideally, it would be something I can just sow directly and let grow, die, and decompose on its own without needing any cutting or digging. Any recommendations?

I've had great success with mustard! It grows quickly and usually dies off during the winter. I also covered it with plastic for a couple of weeks to help it break down faster.
I just threw a mix of clover and some other seeds on the ground, and it grew fine without any fuss. It was super low-maintenance, just as I wanted!
I've tried a few options: clover is a bit temperamental, but mustard is super reliable. Buckwheat takes its time to germinate, but I’m still figuring it out in my first year with it.

That sounds perfect! Did you do anything special when planting it?
