So, my toolset got stolen, and I'm in the market for a new combo kit. The catch is, a lot of the tools in it, like the reciprocating saw and circular saw, don't see much action—I'm an electrician, and I mostly tackle smaller tasks. Ideally, I want to save space, too. Would it make sense to sell off the M18 versions of the tools I barely use and swap them for M12 versions?

The M12 Fuel multi-tool is fantastic! I switched from the M18 standard brushed version, and I can definitely say the M12 is a huge upgrade. While I can’t comment on every tool, that one made a noticeable difference for me.
My take? Keep your M18 tools but grab the M12 Fuel multi-tool, a drill, and an impact driver. The M12 bandsaw is a winner too if you need one. For the heavy-duty tasks, stick with M18.
I know quite a few electricians who swear by the M12 tools. They love the compact size and lighter weight, saying it makes their work easier and faster. If you’re predominantly doing smaller tasks, it might be worth considering!
The M12 impact wrenches, drills, and drivers are impressive, but I’d steer clear of the M12 circular saw—it doesn’t perform as well. However, I do have a buddy who loves his new M12 circular saw, so it might be a mixed bag depending on your needs.
