I just moved into a house in the UK with a decent-sized garden that has a bit of a weed problem. I'm looking for effective ways to get rid of these pesky weeds for a while. Any tips or methods that actually work?

If there’s a lot of weeds and you want to plant later, try mowing them down and covering the area with a tarp. If you're dealing with bindweed, it might take a while—like over a year—to see some results. Hoeing every week can help too! Once you focus on one area and get it under control, it’ll make things easier for the rest of the garden. Oh, and knowing whether you’re in the wetter west or drier east of the UK can also impact your approach!
You could also plant other flowers or plants instead. Nature tends to take care of itself, and it’s way less work than trying to keep an area completely weed-free. Just let new plants take over and outcompete the weeds!
Honestly, I wouldn’t waste money on commercial weed killers; they hardly work. I just use regular table salt on my block paving. If the weeds are in your flower beds or grass, it's best to just pull them out by hand. Sometimes the old methods are the best!
