I recently combined several cacti into large, shallow ceramic pots measuring 12 to 14 inches in width and around 5 to 7 inches deep. These pots are really heavy, and I'm worried about the hassle of moving them to water them regularly. I live in Vermont, and handling these pots can be tricky—I could easily hurt myself or create a mess if the cactus falls. Is there a way to bottom water them or do I need to rethink my setup and go for smaller pots instead?

If handling those big pots is a pain, going for smaller pots could save you some hassle. But if you really want to keep those arrangements, using a tray underneath seems like a smart move. Just make sure to check occasionally that they’re not sitting in too much water!
I agree with what others said! Using a tray works well for bottom watering, and you can occasionally give them a light top-water to keep them happy. If they’re thriving, then maybe the large pots aren't such a burden after all!
You can definitely place a tray or a plate underneath your pots! Just fill the tray with water, and the cacti will grow roots that reach down to it. It's a natural way for them to get water, similar to what they'd do in the wild. Occasionally, you might want to top-water them a bit to mimic rainfall and keep things lively for them.
