How Can I Research a Landscaping Company for Remodeling Work?

I'm looking to hire a landscaping company that has a good reputation based on positive reviews, but they've also pitched me their remodeling services. However, I can't find any info about their home improvement projects online—only landscaping reviews. They claim to be licensed and insured, but I'm unsure if that extends to remodeling as well. They're not BBB accredited either. I'm curious why they don't showcase their remodeling work or if this could raise red flags. How can I dig deeper into their credibility and past work?

It's possible they might not be the ones doing the remodeling but rather partnering with other contractors. I'd suggest asking who would be the general contractor for your project. In some cases, it may just be a handyman with a connection to licensed subcontractors. In my experience, unlicensed contractors often take on smaller remodeling jobs and sub out the work that requires licensing. Finding a fully licensed contractor for smaller projects can be tough since many prefer bigger jobs.

Definitely ask them for their remodeling licenses and client references. Also, checking your state’s licensing board is a good move; it’ll help you confirm their legitimacy and whether there are any complaints or issues against them.

You can verify their licensing through your local contractor's board, which would also reveal their standing and any complaints they might have. It's a practical way to protect yourself before making a decision!
