Should I Invest in Fancy Features for My House?

I have a semi-detached house on a newer estate, which was one of the more affordable options. I'm wondering whether it's worth investing in pricey upgrades, like a multi-lock front steel door that can be opened with a code, fingerprint, or app, as well as other high-end features. Will these upgrades actually increase my home's value, or could they make it harder to sell in the future?

You can definitely upgrade your house as much as you want, but keep in mind that you might not get back all those costs when it comes time to sell. Generally, a house with nicer features will sell faster, but it will still be limited to a certain price range based on the neighborhood. It’s not guaranteed that fancy upgrades will significantly boost your selling price.

That's good to know! I've heard of cases where people bid over the asking price because they loved the upgraded features. But if my house is typically valued between £210k-230k, and I spend £50k on upgrades, should I realistically expect to sell for around £280k?
