I'm curious about people's experiences with central vacuum systems. If you've had one, did you enjoy using it? And if you're building a new home today, would you choose to install one?

I've had a central vac in my new house, and while it seems powerful, I rarely use it anymore because it's just as easy to grab a cordless vacuum. I think modern vacuums are way more convenient and easy to handle, so I wouldn't recommend installing one in a new build.
I love my central vac! I'd recommend getting the biggest unit you can for the best performance. The rug beater works well, but the hard surface attachment is my favorite. Just keep in mind that if you use a traditional vacuum in a sunny spot, you can see dust flying around, unlike with central vac which does a better job at keeping it contained.
Honestly, I'm not a fan of central vacs. It's a bit clunky dealing with that giant hose compared to a regular vacuum. Plus, when something goes wrong, the repairs can be a nightmare. I'd rather stick with my reliable Dyson that doesn't take up so much space.

Totally see your point! Those hoses can be a hassle, especially in multi-level homes.
