APSystems DS3 Microinverter Setup Help

Hey everyone! I'm currently designing a solar power system using APSystems DS3 microinverters, specifically the DS3-S model with 440W panels. I came across their data sheet which indicates I can have up to 6 microinverters on a single string when using a 20A breaker at 240V. However, if I plan on connecting 12 panels, that would total 5.28kW. When I convert that to amps at 240V, I get around 22A, which is over the 20A limit. I'm a bit confused here—does the inverter limit the output to avoid exceeding the breaker capacity?

According to the data sheet, you can indeed connect 6 microinverters on a 10 AWG 30A circuit or 4 on a 12 AWG 20A circuit at 240V. When using the DS3-S model with 440W panels, you're right about the potential for power clipping. It seems like the inverter might limit the output to keep the total under 16A to stay within safety margins.

APSystems can be a bit tricky and they're not super DIY-friendly. If you're looking for something more straightforward, many people suggest going with Enphase. Just keep in mind that it could get pricey since you'd need one microinverter per panel.
