I just paid $25,000 for a small deck and two sets of stairs using Trex Transcend. However, I'm noticing that several of the miter joints aren't quite perfect. Yeah, they’re not perfect, but with composite decking, they tend to shift quite a bit with temperature changes. Expect those joints to open up a bit after the summer heat. I just finished a $60k deck and I made sure my miters were glued and biscuit jointed to minimize issues.
Honestly, I think you're worrying too much. The miter joints look pretty good to me for composite decking. If that’s the worst part of the job, the overall quality should still be solid.
For composite, that’s about as good as it gets! After a summer under the sun, you probably won't even notice the imperfections anymore since they might separate a bit with the heat.
