I recently had my attic treated for pests and new insulation installed due to raccoons nesting up there. The old insulation was removed and replaced, but now there's a huge dust mess everywhere. I've tried vacuuming, but it seems never-ending. I usually use a big attic fan that pulls in outside air, but when I turned it on, a ton of dust blew out. Is the new insulation the cause of this dust? Shouldn't insulation be more contained, like in rolls? I'm worried about my family breathing this in.

If your attic fan is blowing air out of the house, it might help a bit with the dust. Just be careful because reversing it could bring even more dust into your living space. It sounds like the dust could be from the new insulation, as blown-in types tend to be a bit messy at first.
It sounds like they used blown-in cellulose insulation. This type can be quite dusty when first installed, but it should settle down over time. Just keep an eye on it and ensure good ventilation in the house.

Yeah, I’m worried that blowing it out will just fill my house with dust instead. Is this dust from the old insulation or just normal for the new stuff?
