Can I Connect a 7KW Single Phase EV Charger to a 15KW Three Phase Inverter?

I'm trying to figure out if I can connect a 7KW single-phase EV charger to one of the phases of my 15KW three-phase hybrid inverter. Since the inverter distributes power among the three phases, would connecting the charger lead to reduced charging watts, or might it overload and trip the inverter? The inverter is a Solax X3 Neo LV, set up for net metering.

From what I gather, if you connect the 7KW charger, it will likely pull more than the 5KW load that your inverter can handle per phase. If the grid connection isn't involved, it might trip the inverter after some time due to overload. However, if the grid is connected, it should be able to draw excess power from there. Those smart EVSEs can really help manage this situation, as they adjust charging based on available solar power. I've built a system using an ESP32 that calculates how much power is available to optimize charging.

It's a common assumption that 7KW chargers need two phases since they typically operate at 240V. In many setups, they actually sustain from two phases and draw about 3.6KW from each. So make sure your charger can run off one phase before proceeding.
