What are these flimsy ceiling tiles called?

I'm trying to identify some thin, flimsy paneling in my house that was built in 1954, although I'm not sure if it's the original material. Can anyone tell me what it is? Also, I've attached a link to a photo for reference: https://imgur.com/a/zpB9eIo

Yep, those are glue-up ceiling tiles with no framing. Just a heads up, they can get really dusty when you try to remove them, and they tend to disintegrate if they get wet.

So are you saying I should soak them in water and just toss them in a garbage bag?

Those are actually acoustic ceiling tiles. They're pretty common, but be careful because some older ones might contain asbestos.
