I'm looking for some recommendations on a portable generator to help keep my batteries charged. I'm constantly draining batteries while working in irrigation, going through about 4 6AH batteries in just 4-5 hours during my long 10-12 hour shifts. I'd like a generator that can handle charging these batteries since I don't want to keep buying more. I've heard about a DeWalt generator that's 500 watts, but I'm not sure if that's enough. Can anyone suggest a generator that would work well for this, especially during my busy harvest time? Thanks in advance for your help!

A solid option would be one of those small Honda clone generators in the 1500-2000 watt range. They can handle your battery charging needs without any hassle.
You might want to consider getting more batteries instead. Using larger flexvolts could really help, and you can charge them all at the end of the day. It might save you in the long run!
If you rely on a charger that pulls around 480 watts at 120 volts, make sure your generator provides enough wattage to handle that, especially if you have multiple chargers. Consider running an appropriately sized inverter connected to your vehicle instead. Just keep in mind to manage your vehicle’s idle time when using that setup, so you don’t drain your car battery!

Yeah, it's a good idea to keep an eye on your vehicle's battery when idling. You really want to avoid any surprises out in the field!
