I'm looking to purchase a large quantity of boxwoods for a new hedge project, primarily the Winter Gem variety, although I'm open to other types as well. I've noticed that the "Cat Spray" scent mainly comes from Buxus Sempervirens varieties, but since Winter Gem is a Buxus Microphylla, I don't expect that issue. I have about 75 linear feet to cover, with spacing set at 18 inches—so that means I need around 50 plants. To achieve a nice rounded look at the corners, I'm considering getting larger plants for those spots. I've found that I can get Baby Gem (a dwarf Winter Gem brand) for about $9.88 each at SiteOne, which totals roughly $500. I've also spotted a couple of other inexpensive options compared to box stores. If anyone has suggestions on where to source these boxwoods in bulk, I'd appreciate it! Just a heads up—I know boxwoods can get a bad rap for being boring, but they really shine in both sun and shade, and they've been a staple in beautiful landscapes for ages. Also, I don't have any issues with box blight. Thanks for the help!

Have you considered looking into Wintergreen boxwoods instead? I always find that when I see a 'Southern Living' label, I’m likely paying a premium. A regular Wintergreen might work just as well and cost a lot less!
Hey, are there really no boxwood moths in your area? That sounds lucky! Boxwoods seem to thrive where I’m at too, with no pests bothering them.
You might want to check with your local county extension office for the best recommendations. Just a heads up though, Winter Gem boxwoods can be on the pricier side due to their higher risk for boxwood blight in some areas.
I’ve never had problems with blight either, as it seems to not be a concern in my location.

In my experience, they do great here in Central Oklahoma, especially on my mature American boxwoods.
