Hey everyone! I've been doing a ton of research lately about going off-grid with solar and propane, and I'm feeling a lot less clueless than when I started. I want to share my plan and get your opinions. I'm aiming for a 100% off-grid setup for my cabin and have looked at my power usage over the past couple of years. It looks like I use around 20 kWh per day if I switch to propane for heating and hot water.
Here's what I'm thinking: I want to buy one **EG4 18Kpv inverter** alongside three **EG4-WallMount Indoor Batteries (48V 280Ah, 14.3kWh)**, which gives me around 42.9 kWh of battery storage. That's enough for about two days of backup power if the sun isn't shining, and I plan to add a propane generator for those extended dreary days.
Since I'm in Tennessee and see about 4.5 solar hours per day, I calculated needing 28 solar panels at 550 watts each to meet my needs. I'm rounding up from an initial estimate of 26 panels just to be safe. I have to get this ordered soon since the solar tax credits are about to expire.
I'd really appreciate your thoughts on my choice of batteries and inverter. Also, any recommendations on solar panels? I'm leaning towards larger capacity panels to save on racking costs. I'm considering using the IntegraRack IR-45ASA ground mount racks, but I'm also thinking about a self-built racking system. What do you think?

You're on the right track with your racking choice! I'd suggest trying Sinclair or Ready Rack; they work well without needing to adjust angles. Regarding the number of panels, definitely get as many as your inverter can handle—looks like you can manage 18kW. Just a heads up, when you get those large panels delivered, make sure you have a forklift available since they won't fit on a lift gate.
And have you thought about going completely solar without propane? You could set up your system to handle both HVAC and water heating, which would avoid needing a backup generator.

I hear you! I’m just trying to play it safe by having the generator, especially for backup on those bad solar days. I'm still mapping everything out and will definitely consider expanding later.
