So, I recently got a bit of a surprise when my older brushed driver started giving off a faint whiff of smoke. To avoid any work delays, I was about to grab a 645b as a backup when I spotted the 887b on Amazon for over $30 less. I thought it would be a great upgrade from my old single-speed model, so I took the plunge. The package arrived today, and while the driver works perfectly and looks brand new, it came in plain packaging without the original box. The Amazon invoice just says the vendor is 'Other.' Now I'm a bit worried about the warranty situation if something goes wrong. Luckily, I can return it until September 6, so I'll test it out for a bit, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced buying like this and what I should be aware of!

Yeah, you might be okay! Dewalt’s warranty is usually based on the manufacturing date, not where you bought it from. Just keep the receipt and all should be good if anything happens.
Just a heads up, I once tried to claim a warranty and got shut down because I bought from a seller who wasn’t authorized on Amazon. Make sure to double-check their policy.
Honestly, I wouldn’t stress too much about it. The warranty should still cover you, and if the driver works well, you’re golden! I wouldn’t worry too much about where it came from.
Glad to hear that! I thought DeWalt only honored warranties for authorized sellers, too, but if it works, it’s a win!
Exactly! If it's running without issues, go with it and keep enjoying your work!

Thanks for the tip!
