What kind of expert do I need for my home renovation layout?

Hey everyone! I'm embarking on a major renovation of my home, completely down to the studs, and I'm looking for advice on who to consult for the new layout. I've got a contractor who's shared some ideas with me, but I'd really like to bring in someone with more interior design expertise. Should I be looking for an architect, an interior designer, or someone else? Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Connecting with a professional on platforms like Instagram can also be a great way to find someone who's right for your style! Just make sure they understand your vision and can handle all the compliance stuff if needed.

Before you decide, it’s important to figure out whether any of your walls are load bearing. If you're planning to remove walls, knowing this upfront is crucial. Your contractor should be able to identify if they’re load bearing or not, but if they are, you'll eventually need a structural engineer to figure out the right support. If they aren't load bearing, that makes the renovation a lot simpler and cost-effective!

For this kind of project, you might want to work with both an architect and an interior designer. Architects focus on the structural side and ensuring things are up to code, while good interior designers can really help optimize the space and enhance the aesthetics. It's super helpful to have both perspectives, especially in a big renovation like yours!
