We just bought a house and right before closing, a big hailstorm hit, damaging a couple of sections of the siding. The seller's insurance will cover those sections, which also includes adding house wrap. We've got a quote from a construction company to replace the rest of the siding for $6,000. Should we go for it? Will this increase the house's value?

Absolutely! Just make sure to clarify if the current or previous owner’s insurance will cover the hail damage. If you’ve got a real estate lawyer, it’s a good idea to talk to them about it.
I think it's a solid price! Considering that $6,000 falls in line with what it would cost to paint the house, it seems reasonable for re-siding. Definitely worth considering.
It's tough to say for sure. New siding might boost resale value, especially if the new parts don't match the old. On the comfort side, adding house wrap can improve insulation, which is a plus. But when you start digging into a project like this, you might uncover other issues, like insect damage or water problems. Still, if it needs to be done, it makes sense to go for it.
