I'm trying to replicate Bob Ross's painter's palette and I'm curious about what finish would work best for it. Any tips on materials or finishes?

Bob Ross used a large plexiglass palette, which helps minimize reflections from overhead lights. If you’re considering making your own, you could cut it from plexiglass or even wood if you have the right tools. As for finishes, you might want to try multiple coats of boiled linseed oil, making sure to let it cure thoroughly before using it.
Just to clarify: a palette is for paint, while a pallet is for transporting cargo! For materials, shellac worked great for the palettes I made for my art class - they’ve lasted over four years without issues! Definitely worth considering.
If you're looking for a more traditional approach, a couple of people in art communities often recommend linseed oil as well. It’s important to allow it to cure properly between applications.

Thanks for the tip! I was thinking of using a laser or bandsaw to get the right shape but wasn't sure about the finish.
