Can I Grow Donut Peaches in Containers in Scotland?

I'm really eager to grow donut peaches (Saturne variety) in Scotland, specifically on my sheltered south-facing balcony that gets a lot of summer sun. Is there a place that sells them grafted onto dwarf rootstock so I can keep them in containers that I can easily move indoors during the winter? Would appreciate any tips or recommendations!

You actually don’t necessarily need a dwarf rootstock to grow peaches in containers. Peaches don’t grow that big generally. I’ve got a couple of seed-grown trees, and the potted one stays pretty small. It still produces fruit, though not huge amounts—maybe half a dozen or so each year.

Oh that’s awesome! I have some peach stones saved up, so I’ll definitely give that a shot!

You can find Saturne Peach Trees at Chris Bowers & Sons for about £29.95. They typically supply them bare root from autumn to spring, and pot-grown during the summer. Just keep in mind the size, as they can grow quite large!

Unfortunately, they’ll get too big for my balcony, but thank you for the tip!
