Dealing with a Wasp Nest in My Attic: Should I Wait It Out or Call a Pro?

Hey everyone! I've got a stubborn wasp and hornet nest forming in the finished dormer space above my garage, which is also my home office. They're not entering my house, but I can see a ton of them coming in and out of the eaves. It's pretty noisy in there with their constant buzzing. I've tried spraying them with a pole sprayer, but that only seems to agitate them temporarily. I'm wondering if I should just try to wait them out until fall when they die off or if it's worth it to call a professional to deal with it. I'm also considering baiting with some dust, but I'm unsure. Any thoughts or advice?

I’d say just wait it out. Most wasps will die off once the cold hits and there’s not much food left for them. Since they’re not bothering anyone directly, it could be a hassle waiting for a while, but at least you won't have to spend any more money. Unless you notice that they’re becoming a real problem, just let nature take its course!

That makes sense! I’d rather save the cash if they’re not too aggressive.

Check out this video I found. It might give you a quick and easy fix for attracting them away from your attic. Maybe you can position something in the gutter below the dormer? It could work even from a distance!

That looks promising! I might just give it a shot instead of battling with sprays.

Honestly, calling in a pro could be a good idea if it’s gonna cost around $150. It's definitely better than risking a swarm, even if it’s high up. If you’re worried about the cost, think about how much you’ve already spent on sprays that only work temporarily. Sometimes it’s worth paying a little more for a permanent solution!

Totally see your point! I didn’t realize the cost to hire someone was that low. That might be my best move.
