I just bought a new house, and I'm wondering if I should caulk the bath fixtures. Do I really need to do this for maintenance or sealing?

Absolutely, you should caulk your bath fixtures! It helps seal everything properly and prevents water from getting where it shouldn't, which can save you from future water damage.
I had a similar question! My plumber told me that caulking isn't necessary if there's a gasket in place. But honestly, I still prefer to use silicone just to be safe. I'd rather not take any chances!
It's definitely a good idea to add silicone around the fixture. Just make sure not to cover any set screws underneath; those need to be accessible!

Thanks for the insight! I think I'll go with silicone too, just to be on the safe side.
