I'm looking to add a ceiling fan to my standalone patio, but I'm confused about the current wiring setup. There's a yellow cord present, but I can't determine if it was meant for anything specific or if there's proper electrical work done for the fan. I noticed that no cords are hanging down from the posts and I mainly rely on a nearby outlet for power. Does anyone know what this yellow cord might be for, and what's the best way to set up a ceiling fan given that I can't find any electrical connections? That yellow cord looks like it might be Romex, which is commonly used for electrical wiring. The simplest approach to install your fan would be to determine where that Romex leads and connect it appropriately. Once you've done that, you can install the fan where the wire comes through the ceiling. Good luck!
It might be worth checking the rafters above the ceiling. Sometimes the wiring can be hidden. Also, you might want to trace the yellow cord to see if it leads to any conduit or junction box.
It’s possible the yellow wire connects to the house somewhere. You might need to investigate and locate the switch that controls it. Good luck with your fan installation!

Thanks for the tip! I'm pretty inexperienced with this, but I've checked the four wooden posts closely and I can't find any wiring anywhere. It seems like the patio roof isn't connected to the house, so I'm unsure where the wire goes. Any suggestions?
