What Are the Best Hinges for a Heavy Hidden Bookcase Door?

I'm working on a hidden bookcase door that measures 35" x 8" x 102". I'm trying to figure out the best type of hinges to use and how to securely attach them to the wall. I've been considering using a 72" piano hinge that would go through the trim and into the stud, but I'm open to any better ideas. Also, I'd prefer not to use wheels if possible. Any suggestions?

If a piano hinge is on your radar, they can be sturdy, but I would still recommend checking out heavy-duty hinges specifically rated for doors or cabinets. Just make sure you install them properly into the wall studs for stability.

You definitely want something that can handle the weight. A piano hinge might seem strong, but it may not be enough for something that heavy. Consider looking into heavy-duty butt hinges or an alternative like a concealed hinge geared for bookshelves. Just make sure to reinforce the mount points in the wall for extra support.
