I've been looking into wood veneers, like the one linked here. Are they made from real wood that's been sliced thin, or are they a product bonded with glue and other materials?

Wood veneers are indeed made from real wood! They're essentially very thin slices of actual wood that are cut from logs. This means you get the appearance and feel of real wood without needing solid wood panels.
Most veneers are simply thinly sliced wood. Higher quality veneers are used to cover surfaces, while lower quality ones may end up in plywood. Also, some veneers can include plastic blends, but the traditional ones are just wood slices. If you're curious to learn more, you might check out this quick video on the topic!
