Why Does My Apartment Smell Bad After Woodworking?

Asked By WoodCrafter23 On

I've just started woodworking and have a small workshop in my apartment. I keep it clean and tidy, but I notice that whenever I leave the workshop, my whole apartment sometimes smells really bad. I absolutely love the aroma of the wood in my workshop, but it's like stepping into a different world when I leave. The only potential culprit I can think of is the kitchen trash can, but that's about it. Is it normal for people who do woodworking indoors to experience this issue?

It’s not necessarily normal! While I can see how the smell of sawdust is much better than most everyday odors, it sounds like your apartment might have some smell issues that go beyond woodworking. For instance, if one of your sink's p-traps is dry, that could let sewer smells into your home. Definitely worth checking!

Yeah, you're right! I'll probably check that out soon.
