Is it a Good Idea to Bury Concrete from Pool Demolition?

I'm currently working on demolishing a pool in my backyard, and one of the contractors suggested that I could just bury the concrete from the pool deck and walls in the deep end of the pool. I'm not so sure this is the best approach and I'm leaning towards having the concrete hauled away instead. I'm looking for some advice or thoughts on whether burying it is a practical option or not.

Burying it in the deep end could work since that area is less likely to be disturbed later, especially if someone else decides to put in another pool there. Just be cautious about burying it under areas where someone might want to plant trees or put in a garden later!

Burying concrete can save you some money since hauling it away often costs a lot. Just make sure to check if there's a concrete recycling facility nearby because that might be a better option for disposal without the costs. You’d also need to think about how you’re filling the area after; one option is to fill it with dirt or sand on top of the concrete to keep things level for future landscaping.

If you choose to bury it, it's smart to poke holes in the bottom of the pool to prevent water from pooling later on. You might also want to put some sand over the rubble and then flood that to pack it down a bit. This will help with settling in the future. Just make sure it’s done properly to avoid issues with the fill dirt sinking.
