I'm trying to find a better tool for cutting thick strips of wood since I had a mishap with a knife and ended up cutting my finger. I used a chisel once, but I no longer have it, and now I'm living in an apartment. If I made any mistakes in my writing, I apologize—English isn't my first language!

I’d suggest using a bow saw to start with; it's great for making cuts. Also, consider getting some cut-resistant gloves (ANSI level 9). They’ll really help protect your hands while you're working!
Honestly, I'd go for the bow saw to take off the big chunks first, and then you can use a chisel for the finer details afterward. It makes the whole process way smoother!

Thanks for the tip about the gloves! I’ll definitely check those out.
