I'm a hobbyist working on a project to build a library and built-in bookshelves for my wife. Throughout this project, I'll definitely need a Brad nailer, and I'm trying to decide whether to go with the M12 or M18 model. I think I can manage with 1 1/2" Brad nails for most tasks, and I have plenty of batteries for both types. I'm just torn between the lightweight advantage of the M12 for longer tasks and the extra power and battery life of the M18. Any advice on which would be better for my needs?

I'd suggest going with the M18. It's more versatile since it can handle longer nails, which can really come in handy for different tasks. Plus, it packs a bit more punch compared to the M12, especially if you'll be working on a larger project like yours. If you need power and longevity, M18 is the way to go!
I absolutely love my M18! It handles longer nails with ease, and it’s just really powerful. For a project like yours, where you’ll be building something that needs to hold up, I think the M18 could be a real game changer. Plus, you might find yourself using it more than you think!
Unless you're just using it to pin things temporarily while the glue sets, I wouldn't recommend the 18 gauge nails for everything. The M12 might struggle a bit with 1.5" brads. I have the M18, and it handles that size with no issues. It's definitely my go-to for strength and reliability!
