Do I Really Need Aluminum Wrap for My Vinyl Siding?

Asked By CraftyLizard92 On

I got a quote from a contractor who insists on wrapping window trim and fascia with aluminum coil whenever vinyl siding is installed. I'm wondering if this step is necessary or if it just adds unnecessary costs to my project. Can I skip the aluminum wrap without causing any issues later, or am I missing something important here?

You can avoid the aluminum wrap, unless you're adding vinyl soffits. Those typically need the wrap to secure everything in place. If you currently have decent wood soffits, you're probably good to skip it. Just make sure you’re not compromising anything structural.

Got it! I don't have soffit issues and my wood seems fine, so I think I'm in the clear.
