Hey folks, I'm having a frustrating issue with my garage door. Whenever I try to close it, it goes down to about a foot off the ground, then abruptly reverses and opens back up. I've cleaned the bottom of the door, realigned the sensors, and even cleaned those sensors, but nothing seems to work. Occasionally, it will close correctly for a couple of tries, but then it goes back to misbehaving, regardless of whether it's day or night. Could this problem stem from the springs being too tight, or is there something else at play?

You might want to check the springs by disconnecting the door from the opener. If it stays put halfway up, then the springs should be fine. Also, double-check for any obstructions near the sensors on the floor, and don't forget to readjust the down travel limit if needed.
I faced a similar situation, and after less than a year, my door needed a complete replacement. It might be worth considering if you've tried everything else.
Does your door have rollers? Sometimes they wear out and become hard to turn, which can cause the door to stall. They are relatively easy to replace, just do it one at a time if needed!
