Looking for Affordable White Paint Recommendations for Renters

Hey everyone! I'm in the process of moving into a new place that has those medium grey walls that seem to be everywhere these days. I want to paint the entire unit white to freshen things up, but since I'm renting, I don't want to spend a fortune on paint. Could anyone recommend some budget-friendly white paint options?

Painting white over a lighter color like tan can be a bit tricky. I just did it, and it ended up needing three coats! Just be aware that it’s a lot of work and potentially costly, especially since you’ll likely have to revert back to grey when you move out.

Totally agree! Covering even a light tan with white can take a lot of effort and paint—definitely a consideration for renters!

Honestly, if you’re a renter, I’d hesitate to dive into painting entirely. If you were a homeowner, I’d recommend Sherwin-Williams—but as a renter, you might want to think twice before putting in all that work!

First things first, make sure your lease allows you to paint! It’s always best to get your landlord’s okay in writing before you start. For budget paint, you can't go wrong with Behr or Valspar from Home Depot or Lowe's. They have some great affordable options!

I’ve had great luck with Behr as well, especially their Ultra and Premium Plus lines! If you're really looking to save, Glidden is a solid budget choice for a basic white.
