How to Make a DIY Spin Bucket for Laundry?

I'm looking to build a DIY spin bucket that works similar to a spin mop system but with a capacity of about 5 to 10 gallons. I've tried searching online but only found guides on using spin mops, not how to actually make my own. I considered just buying a spin mop, but those buckets don't hold enough water.

I've also experimented with using a plunger, but it didn't work out as expected. While I'm thinking about getting a laundry plunger as a backup, I'd really prefer something that I can operate with my feet. Plus, it would be awesome if I could make a spinner that could also function as a dryer.

Does anyone have tips or know how to create something like this?

It sounds like you're in a tough spot with your washer! Have you thought about using a manual design where you can incorporate a spinning mechanism? You could potentially use a robust plastic bucket with a lid that can latch down tight. If you add some kind of paddle or agitator that you can turn by hand or foot, it could help get the water out without too much effort. Just make sure you secure it well so it doesn't fly off when you're spinning!

That's a neat idea! You might look into using old bicycle parts for the spinning mechanism too. It could give you more control without needing power.

I get that buying a new washer can be a drag. Have you thought about borrowing one, or maybe checking out community resources? Meanwhile, for your spin bucket, consider looking into those DIY salad spinners as inspiration. They’re built to spin without a lot of bells and whistles, and you could adapt that principle to your bucket!

Great suggestion! A salad spinner's mechanism could definitely give some ideas. Plus, there are tons of tutorials for them, so you can see how they work before trying your own adaptation.
