Is It Safe to Use Damaged Laminate Flooring in Garden Beds?

I have a large pile of damaged laminate flooring, the kind that looks like wood, and I'm trying to find a way to recycle it instead of just tossing it. I can't burn it in the stove, so I'm looking for alternative uses. I'm installing a couple of tall gardening beds and I want to fill the bottom about 50cm deep with materials like branches and wood chips. Would it be safe to use the laminate pieces for this purpose, or might they leach harmful chemicals into the soil?

I really wouldn’t recommend using laminate flooring in your garden beds. It contains a lot of chemicals that could leach into the soil, like adhesives and finishes. It’s better to stick to natural materials for that kind of project. Just imagine what those chemicals could do to your plants!

That's definitely what I'm worried about too. It's such a shame to waste all that material, especially after the flood damaged everything!
